The Glenn Foundation Leadership and Legacy Announcements
GASTONIA, NC (October 31, 2024) – The Carrie E. and Lena V. Glenn Foundation (“The Foundation”), a non-profit focused on serving residents of Gaston County, has named Tyler Bullock as its new Executive Director. The Foundation has also announced the formation of The Lineberger and Garrison Family Fund, established in honor of Laura Lineberger, the outgoing Executive Director, and her family. Both Tyler and Laura, daughters of Mary Beth and Jim Stuart and Caroline and Avery Garrison, respectively, are legacy stewards of The Glenn Foundation.
Tyler is a Gastonia native with deep personal ties to the community. Her father, Jim Stuart, was a founding trustee of The Glenn Foundation and served for three decades, including as Chairperson in 1993. Tyler is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and spent the last 20 years working for Gaston County Schools at Sherwood Elementary. Tyler was appointed to the board of directors of The Glenn Foundation in 2016 and worked closely with former Executive Director Laura Lineberger.
The Lineberger and Garrison Family Fund was formed to honor Laura Lineberger and Caroline Garrison, both of whom served as Executive Directors of The Glenn Foundation, to recognize their service and commitment to Gaston County. This fund will support The Foundation’s original mission to provide resources “where they are most needed to do the most good for the greater Gaston community.” The grants will be made to non-profits organizations serving education, youth services, arts and culture, health and well-being and other initiatives at the discretion of the board of The Foundation.
“The values that Carrie and Lena Glenn held so strongly allowed them to have a significant and enduring impact on the Gaston County community,” said Tyler Bullock. “The Glenn Foundation holds a very special connection for me with my dad being a founding trustee and serving on the board for so many years. My life was further enriched by the opportunity to serve on the board myself.”
Tyler added: “It is quite an honor to have the opportunity to follow in the footsteps of such formidable and dynamic women as Laura Lineberger, Barbara Voorhees and Caroline Garrison. I am excited about the possibility of contributing to the continued success of the Glenn Foundation.”
The Glenn Foundation has concluded deliberations for the 2024 grant cycle and made 21 grants totaling $240,000. Grants ranged in size from $1,200 to $25,000.
